How should I choose a condominium to rent?

1.Location that meets your needs

The first thing that comes to mind is choosing a location. What’s the purpose of renting the condominium in the first place? Some people want to live near their work place or school. Some people want to be near the train stations. The list just keeps getting longer. Then once you pick a place, you choose condominiums closest to your needs, but don’t forget to explore the surrounding areas first. Are there restaurants and department stores nearby? Do you have all the facilities you need? Another thing you should keep in mind is that in most cases, the closer you are to the train stations, the higher the rent will be. You should pick a location that corresponds to the budget you’ve set as well. 

2.Inspect the project and common facilities 
Don’t forget to make sure that the project you’re moving into is still in good condition, has standard security, has enough parking spots for you, and the common facilities can accommodate the residents well enough.  Study the rules and regulations of the project, the different fees (if there’s any), and compare to the surrounding projects. Because choosing the right (or wrong) place can make a huge difference in your life.

3.Pick a unit layout and direction that suits your lifestyle

One thing that shouldn’t be overlooked is your living space. Pick a room plan according to the number of residents that will be living in that unit. If you are living alone, the size of a studio room is approximately 30 sq.m., which is the popular size. 

A studio unit might not be suitable for people who cook often, because the bedroom and living room functions are all in one space. There may be problems with the smell of food on bedsheets and fabrics. Choosing the proper room plan is important. In addition, another thing that is equally important is choosing the direction that the room is facing (as it affects how much sunlight you’re getting into the room at different times of the day), to match with your lifestyle.

4 . Choose a floor that is not too high up

The higher the floor, the higher the rental price will be. But if you select a very low floor, you may encounter more noise pollution. Therefore, the “middle floors” should be selected. If there’s an elevator problem, you wouldn’t be too tired getting up and down the stairs as well. Plus, it will be more convenient to move things in and out of the condominium unit.

5.History of the units and condominium project

The best way to check is to ask the residents currently living there, or ask shops around that area about anything suspicious you should know about. Another way is to do some research on the internet for news. You should check is the condominium project has had legal problems in the past, or perhaps a history of theft or other crimes before. It is important to know these things for your own safety and peace of mind.
